BACKGROUND

Corporate communications management roles from 1994 to 2002 - Telecom (public affairs, financial communications, investor relations) and Wrightson (group communications). Newspaper and radio journalist from 1979 to 1994 - finance editor and Washington DC correspondent (New Zealand Press Association), Parliamentary Press Gallery reporter and business journalist (The Press), economics correspondent (Radio NZ).  Freelance journalism 2009 onward - articles published in North & South, Management, New Zealand Dairy Exporter, Organic NZ.

Martin has a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (Dispute Resolution) from Massey University and a Master of Arts (Hons) in Political Science from the University of Canterbury. Martin has also attained post graduate papers in investment analysis and financial planning (Australian Securities Institute, Massey University). Other formal training in recent years includes the courses in the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the basics of Corporate Governance (NZ Institute of Directors training).
